About Softpress

SOFTPRESS celebrates its 20th birthday!

Books for the whole family

Established in 1994 to cater for the needs of the computer book market, SoftPress is currently one of the highest ranked Bulgarian publishers whose motto „Books for the whole family“ best sums up its rich portfolio of books. The company catalogue features over 1400 titles which span various genres: children’s educational and activity books, fiction, self-study books, dictionaries, foreign-language learning books, travel guides, and computer books. SoftPress also publishes in a variety of other areas such as medicine, architecture, marketing and management, popular psychology and esoteric literature.

SoftPress partners with the leaders in the publishing business: HarperCollins, Random House, Oxford University Press, Langenscheidt, Compact, RovioBooks, Usborne, Ballon, Apa Publications, Ексмо, Питер, Олма Медия Групп, Microsoft Press, O’Reilly, Pearson Education (Addison-Wesley, Adobe Press, Que, Sams, Peachpit), to name but a few.

The SoftPress collection of translated titles boasts world-famous bestselling authors such as Walter Isaacson, Sylvia Day, John Verdon, Eve Ensler, Simon Beckett, Kathy Reichs, Melissa de la Cruz, Sam Christer, Aleksandr Bushkov, Aleksandr and Julia Sviyash, Valerij Sinelnikov, the academicians Boris Bolotov and Andrey Levshinov as well as highly acclaimed Bulgarian writers such as Stefan Tsanev, Leda Mileva and Liubomir Nikolov.

When setting its publishing objectives, SoftPress always makes sure the production of its own books occupies a prominent place among these. To meet this particular objective we attract Bulgarian writers, illustrators, linguists and psychologists who are distinguished in their respective fields. SoftPress prides itself on its bestselling children’s series: „My Favourite Nursery Rhymes”, „Bulgarian Folk Tales“, „Classical Fairy Tales“, „Children’s Atlas“ , “Let’s learn better English“ and the gift books from the life-improvement series by Natalia Kobilkina.

SoftPress invests in classical titles such as the latest edition of the four-volume Atlas of Human Anatomy by Sinelnikov. The Atlas which has been vital to generations of medical students has been edited by the Honorary Chancellor of The Medical University - Sofia the academician Prof. Vladimir Ovtcharov, MD.

Another quality title is the 1024-page bilingual English dictionary. The dictionary is a joint project with Oxford University Press whose extensive academic publishing expertise was perfectly complemented by the wide experience of accomplished Bulgarian lexicographers, foreign language learning experts, and computer linguists.

Motivated by our mission to take books to the people, we established our own distribution company which services more than 1300 sales points across the country. You can find our books in traditional bookshops and in big supermarket chains such as Kaufland, Carrefour, Billa, HIT, CBA, Metro, T-market, Piccadilly.

Most of our titles are also available in an e-format.
